I recently took a trip to Yosemite Valley with a few friends and planned on hiking Half Dome. I usually bring all my gear including a gimbal but sometimes its just ...
+satostudiogear Ok thanks, I think I need to only use the lens I have with IS, the ones without aren't great. Be interested to know if you have any other lenses you can test that don't have IS?
+turningkorean Hi, I have noticed these micro jitters on mine, I have used the A7s + 35mm FE 2.8 which seems to suffer really badly with this, I guess because it doesn't have any IS built in. I also have the 16-35mm which is better but I can still see a small shake, did you notice this in your footage?
CAME-Single - A More Intelligent Lightweight 3-Axis Gimbal
CAME-TV showed us the new CAME-Single, a lightweight 3 axis gimbal with intelligent motors for one-handed operation. See the related article on cinema5D: ...
After my first lot of disappointing footage of the CAME-TV Came Single i discovered that the unit was not coping well with my GH4 and small 14mm pancake lens ...
I tried mine again without the lens stabilization and it was pretty bad.
similar to your first video. I'm thinking I might save the settings and try
to go in and tweak mine. I believe its basecam software. if it takes lens
stabilization to get it to look smooth then its not doing a good job. I'm
now kind of disappointed.
+SWAF Jarrad . Thanks so much for your video posts regarding the CAME-TV Single. The link you have above //tinypic.com/r/s3lyec/8 for the GH4 settings; does that seem to stop the vibration? I tried using the 20mm prime on there with no success. I've also tried the 14-140 with a little more success. I'm apprehensive about making a lot of changes in the settings. The snapshot of the PID you posted seems to have everything including the motor config ramped up from my settings. I was wondering if you could share any other settings for the GH4 that CAME shared with you. Thanks so much!
+SWAF Jarrad Hi, Did their new PID really improved things? Mine just came and shift to the right (always) and the stabilisation is not that great (I Have the 12-35mm).
+AeroVideo Yea I am much more happy but still not quite there. I contacted CAME and they replied with some settings I could use for the GH4, basically saying that the stock PID settings are meant for full frame lenses (so more weight) which explains why my small lens didnt cope so well and this was an improvement. But the settings they sent are specific to the GH4 with this lens or the 12-35mm (link below). If you have a go at adjusting the PID settings that should be ok. But you'll just need to make sure the motor configuration remains the same as what they have specified, these are meant to be specific to the came singleI just havent had time to try it out yet.//tinypic.com/r/s3lyec/8
I am eager to get my hands on one of these gimbals. However, I work a lot
in low light with a Sony Zeiss FE 55mm Sonnar T at 1.8 on my a7s and manual
focus is a must with shallow depth of field. I haven't found an answer as
to how you can adjust focus on the lens while using these gimbals. Can you
touch the lens without stabalization issues, and if not, what solutions are
there to actually adjust focus?
+Tyler Miranda Yea definitely cant touch the lens without it affecting the picture. I also tried it in low light the other day and it struggled with the focus unfortunately.

Mine has been delayed another week because they said in an email to myself that they have made a slight improvement to the second batch. Wonder what they have changed.
+SWAF Jarrad So long as you know how, you can try different PID settings. You can always change it back. Maybe later today i'll show how to change this. As long as you don't mess around with the other areas, you'll be fine.
+SWAF Jarrad Keep us updated, i would say something is def wrong, others are getting better results. I should have mine in a week as i pre-ordered, will let you know if i get similar results, thanks again for all the videos :-)
Yea more I look and compare to others the more I wonder what is going on :( balance seems perfect. Time to message CAME again and see what their suggestion is...
Testing the new CAME Single w/ Sony A7S
Check out more of our work at //creativeedgepro.com We test out the new CAME Single 3-axis brushless gimbal with the Sony A7S & 10-18mm f/4 lens.
+Otto Van De Steene I was thinking the same. I'm using a Sony a6000 and trying to do the wifi connect to record video and view it on my smart phone but it doesn't allow video control on the play memories app. @nextwavedv can you elaborate on how you are doing this?
+savedfaves Wasn't trying to be "mean," just save people 2 minutes. I'm glad these bros posted this because it looks pretty awesome and I haven't found anyone else reviewing it.
Stay away from came single. Its shaky and it jitters because you have to
adjust the software. But if you do that came gives you no warranty. So this
means that its pretty pointless since every gimbl needs some type of PID
adjustment.
+Joe Taravella Well I have a Movi m10 system so I would say that I fully understand how to use, tune, and balance a gimbal. So yes, I know what I'm talking about when I say that every gimbal will need at some point depending on the load and demands some type of tuning. And came prohibits you from doing it. Maybe you should read in a bit more about the basics about gimbals before judging other people?
+AdmirSarajevo To each his own, I bought one and have used it numerous times with great results. Maybe you don't know how to balance it, in which case you shouldn't be giving recommendations on gear.
Hey everyone there has been what is for me a MAJOR change. I got this
gimbal today from the second batch and the battery is NOT replaceable
anymore. The instructions now state the battery is built in. Very
disappointing.
+Zombie Clown I noticed the same thing when I got mine in however they say that the internal battery will last 20 hours which should be more than enough if true.
That was added recently, after most peoples had been posted out. Mine is faulty anyway, once i pan left won't pan back to the right. The guys from Came asked me change a bunch of settings and the problem is still there :-(
+Zombie Clown CAME-Single 3 Axis Gimbal Camera 32bit boards with Encoders//www.came-tv.com/camesingle-3-axis-gimbal-camera-32bit-boards-with-encoders-p-673.htmlWe have made changes to the CAME-SINGLE Battery. The original version required you to remove and recharge the batteries. The new version of the CAME-SINGLE has a internal rechargeable batteries built into the handle which allows for more power and stability to the system.
+Zombie Clown I'm going with the Pilotfly H1 now LOL
CAME-TV Single Gimbal Stabilizer Test 1 with Nikko
Testing the stabilization of the CAME-TV Single. Straight from the box. No stabilization was applied in post. My focus was solely on stabilization only. Shout out to ...
+Andrew Britton Thank you! Will do. I should have more up soon.

+13 Stops Pocket Films hey, maybe about 5 hours in, maybe even less. The thing is that I'm not sure how much charge was on it prior to receiving it. When I charged it up to full and tested it, it felt even smoother for some reason. Maybe because the motors weren't so sensitive.
+Davidos Foto youre gonna love it! trying out some handle bars next paycheck. one thing i did notice was that if the battery gets really low, its pretty much unusable. so make sure you have it charged! once its fully charged its nice!
+Andrew Britton ever since i got it which was about 4 days ago, i haven't had to charge it :o I would say I've used it for about 4 hours tops since I got it. Im gonna try to see how long it'll last. The battery life was primarily why i chose it over the pilotfly!
CAME-TV single handle gimbal
Spent the day with my friend Chuck Land, his dog, kids and my new 3-axis gimbal by Came-TV. This is probably the best investment I made in equipment in ...
Thank you for providing the video sample! There's still that one thing I
don't like about one-handed gimbals, is the consistent up and down motion
caused by walking.
Olympus 12 mm f2.0 Just bought the Rokinon 7.5 / Can't wait to try it with the stabilizer. Will de-fish it with Premier Pro CC using the distort filter.
Downtown Walk with the Came-Single 3 Axis Gimbal
Just a fun little test video I made with my wife and the CameTV Single pistol grip 3 axis gimbal. It was small enough with my Sony A7s on it that we didn't attract ...
Just had a question. When you say you adjusted the PID settings are you
just talking motor power? or did you change the actual PID as well? I'm
shooting with a Sony a6000 on mine and I'm still getting a good amount of
jitter, so I'm wondering if I should be adjusting more than just motor
strength. Thanks!
+AeroVideo Ya I'm getting a bit of vibration in a couple different positions. Where are the settings to compensate vibration frequencies? I may have to make a couple adjustments to my PID. I think the jitter I'm getting is coming from the pitch as well. Look forward to seeing some new footage :)
+mmmiked I went nuts:) Part of the problem I was having was vibration resonance throughout the gimbal. Turns out there are settings in the alexmos software that allow you to compensate for certain vibration frequencies. Once those are diminished I was able to tune the actual PID settings to higher values, especially pitch which is where I saw the most amount of jitter. I did play with motor power as well but I get best results when re-tuning the PID settings to my particular setup. My results since this test are way better now. Just haven't had any projects to post :(
Great clip mate!
I am using the A7RM2 but I see you had the 28-70 onboard & another guy used
the 16-35. The CTV Single is limited to 1.2kg all up load. Whats your
weight?
Are you shooting more wide than Tele? as I am thinking the 10-18 but will
get the 16-35 if it does not push the 1.2kg limit.
+Ed Smith Thanks Ed, I found I am more limited by adjustment range than by weight itself. My Sony A7s and 35mm 1.4 are right at the limit but I can't adjust the camera far enough back to balance. If I recall the 28-70 and A7s were well within the weight limits.
what is the weight limit for this gimble? Was it difficult to control it
with the setup you have used due to weight? thanks for the informative
video.
+Sandeep Chahal I think the weight limit is 1.2kg, I think I was around 1 kg with my camera lens combo. Since it's designed for one hand it does get a little tiring, but the gimbal holds the camera just fine. Hope that helps.
Hey everyone there has been what is for me a MAJOR change. I got this
gimbal today from the second batch and the battery is NOT replaceable
anymore. The instructions now state the battery is built in. Very
disappointing.
.... man i got another problem now. Once i pan all the way to the right with the joystick.... it won't pan to the left. But if i pan to the left after booting up its fine. Not impressed lol.
+Zombie Clown Maybe I have version 1.5 :) as mine will pan and tilt at the same time but I still have the removable batteries, which reminds me I need some spares.
The only positive i can notice is that the with the joystick you can pan and tilt at the same time, on V1 from what understand you can only pan or tilt not both at the same time?
+Zombie Clown Wow, that's very unfortunate. I know it's difficult to know but are there any other changes? I have the v1 version and have been playing around with notch filters in the software and getting better pitch tuning results. The default pitch tune had a PID of 15-.03-5 which is REALLY low. I've got it up to 30-.05-35 which seems to be performing much smoother for me. If you get a chance take a look at your PID settings. Also the 2nd IMU was disabled in the software on mine. I had to enable it and did a 1 point calibration on it. Not sure if it has helped or not.
