+Henry Hugues That is for sure. I get tired of people saying he is underrated. Whocares what people who do not know any better think? The great songwriters know about Ray
Just heard the Fresh Air interview with Ray Davies. His sister had a severe
heart condition and actually died after she went dancing- in the arms of a
stranger. <

I know what you mean. I was a teenager in the 80's. The 80's put music on a whole new path. Not to mention things were a whole lot cheaper back then. All the gas you could burn for $5.00.
Jay McGuiness & Aliona Vilani Rumba to 'Falling Slowly' - Strictly Come Dancing: 2015
Programme website: //bbc.in/1lBOQjY Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani Rumba to 'Falling Slowly' from Once.
Yup, really romantic. One of the best rumbas done this series and one of
the best male celeb rumbas done in the entire 13 series of SCD too. Very
fluid, musical, and with loads of basic rumba steps, with that figure-eight
hip rotation done really well, not just at the hip section, but right up to
his arms and tips of his fingers. A solid nine or 9.5, and possibly a ten
or two from the judges I am sure...
+Scd Observer I'm not blaming anyone solely either when I sad Aliona I meant she would be likely to initiate I didn't say it would be her fault so can we stop this now it's doesn't matter at the end of the day
+Anna Simpson I am not saying Jay is going to be ungentlemanly regarding Aliona and her recent happy marriage. I am just saying that if somethings happened between them, then it would be silly for us to lay blame solely on one party and exonerate the other. A relationship takes two to develop, that was my point. I am speaking about this hypothetically.
+Murdos Mum look unless you have been a fan for the past 5 to 6 years then you won't understand where I'm coming from it's just my opinion that jay wouldn't do that I didn't come here to start an argue lament I came to watch jay dance so if we could all just agree we are Untitled to are opinions and leave it at that
+Scd Observer look I didn't comment to get argued with I was only defending jay Aliona I s Happily married so your example is not the same I just don't believed jay could do something like that but we are untitled to are opinions
Ok Anna so no you don't know him, you are a fan seeing a persona he wants to portray. Yes it might be the right one and I'm sure he's a lovely guy, however nobody really fully knows anyone. SCD observer 'bloodshed'? I think not, it certainly didn't do Kristina any harm apart from being given an old duffer for the next series!.
Sorry to sound cliche and looking like I am making a silly pun, but it DOES takes two to Tango. We had the case of Ben and Kristina. I can't really say it was entirely Ben's or Kristina's fault that Ben's previous marriage broke down. And no matter who's at fault (perhaps even Ben's ex-wife had some responsibility in the break-down of the marriage?), at the end of the day someone got hurt, and situation turned sour and ugly for all involved. Worse, when the red tops had their tentacles on this and spin the story out of all recognition, whatever dignity that's left etc.. It's not a fairy tale as simple as a deeply romantic rumba, after all, that's a 90-second fantasy. But if their relationship goes beyond a celeb-pro teacher-student level, then there will be 'bloodshed' as they are public figures...
+Murdos Mum I have followed the wanted and jay since the beginning and though I have not met him I still feel like I know him from everything he did for fans I know him from tw Wednesdays and Thursjay and every interview advert personal video and every concert I went and his band members aka his best mates said he wouldn't cross that line just cause they are dance partners doesn't mean they are automatically Gina fall in love and have an affair am I said that it would be Alionas doing not her fault there is a difference it would be her doing as he is younger and absolutely gorgeous. I don't know what your getting at in 1916 the only thing I now about 1916 is that cold hearted bastards aka the British came and shot innocent Irish men who where fighting to govern there own country btw it was more the 1920s that it was only seen as adultery of the woman cheated in marriage so get you facts straight
+Anna Simpson Jay would never do that?............Do you know him personally?. And if it did happen it would be Aliona's fault? I'm sorry when did we return to 1916? People fall in love, people don't always act on it and some do! Nobody intentionally wants to hurt someone else but sometimes that love comes once in a lifetime. Does it make them bad people?
+Scd Observer jay is a amazing person and would never do that Tom has even said he would never do something like that Aliona and her husband and jay are great friends now nothing more if some thing was to happen it would come from Aliona not jay
Against all the shippers out there, I rather hope Aliona is only creating an illusion and that Jay, however much he had a crush on Aliona, behaves like a gentleman he is and stays away from the temptation of breaking Aliona's newly married life.
+Scd Observer I didn't like that move either. The first time I watched it I actually thought he had lost his balance. However the rest of the dance was beautiful. The song choice truly inspired. Well done Aliona. Hidden meaning perhaps?
+Scd Observer That's what I liked about it - it was so natural. That hip movement did not look forced because he was using his whole body to create the shape, not just trying to stick his hips out and hoping that would count as rotation. He really understands movement. And it was very masculine too. Clever Aliona - no 'sexiness' to put him out of his comfort zone, but lots of 'love'. Well deserved top of the leaderboard last night.
+liesiezie Well done them! This is possibly the highest scored male celeb rumba (barring Xmas Special by Matt Di Angelo) in the whole of SCD history! So Jay finally peaked, and what a time to peak too! The reason I score him up to a 9.5 and just short of a 10 is only because I don't like that move when he balanced on one leg, that bit at 1:11 he should create more tension with Aliona, thus creating a more dynamic line for that sort of move, but it looked almost like he was doing a dog wee. But otherwise the rest of it I am mightily impressed...
I wonder whether Anthony would have been great if it hadn't been due to his
injury, I saw some real potential in him and I would of preferred him over
peter any day
+Claire Stapley yeah, I think he did. He looked really good as well. You forget who's on it and I remember he was the one I was rooting for. It looks like his shoulder has now healed, which is good but I think he should of done it when his shoulder had recovered.
+Lydia Overend I agree, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Craig say he was the best boxer they'd had on Strictly? Because there's been quite a few boxers over the course of this show....
+Lee Cox Because this is what the British public like and adore!!! This is a family show that's still so pure and loved! DWTS is amazing but wayyyyy too over produced!
Iwan is still hopeless
I wonder if Anthony would've been decent without his injury?
Daniel O'Donnell, we know you're Irish. We get it!
I miss Ainsley and his funny routines.
I forgot Kirsty existed.
Carol Kirkwood+Jeremy Vine= :D
Jamelia looks way better here than she actually was.
Helen looks like she should be in the final. So does Anita, with all the
Gleb specials she pulled off.
I love the eliminated group dance, it's my favourite part!
Jamelia's dancing here was standout for me, makes me wonder if she was
partnered with someone else (not saying that her with Tristan was bad,
enjoyed his Charleston & Quickstep choreography) would she have got higher
scores and not such harsh criticism!
+Andrew in the Kitchen It wouldn't have mattered who she was paired with, the public made it very clear their dislike for her and you could tell it was really getting her down too and I actually think THAT effected her performance each week. She had great potential, the quickstep she performed in the dance off (Blackpool) was brilliant, I loved it. I am indeed in the minority and I honestly like Jamelia and her no-nonsense attitude. It would also appear she doesn't hold grudges considering the way the BBC treated her too as she came back, good on you Jamelia!
Winner of Strictly 2015 revealed! - Strictly Come Dancing: 2015
Programme website: //bbc.in/1Ide4zP Winner of Strictly 2015 revealed!
it is so calm compared to dwts when the winners start screaming and jumping
and everyone stampedes the stage and lifts them right away and u cant hear
anything from the screaming. why is everyone so calm and subdued, is it
always like this, is it a british thing so confused?
+Jeny Dee Just read the other day how much the Judges are paid -- mega bucks!! Head Judge for SCD was at 190 Lbs (I don't have the pound sign!!) whereas pro-dancers are around 30-40 Lbs -- like REALLY??? And yes -- the US version runs 2 seasons per year -- whereas the UK version runs only one. (I'm going to look for the article I had read -- the disparity was beyond comprehension.) Well -- winner celebrity of DWTS had earned some $230K prior to winning the glitterball -- just making it to the Finals, each celeb made that much. Afterward, as you mention -- there's the tours, various endorsements, royalties, etc. -- not too shabby. I have no clue what they earn on SCD if they take their celeb partner to the Finals or win the trophy -- doubt it's much at all. GROSSLY underpaid for such talent and dedication to their craft. Sad.
+nightowl7777 yes I noticed on dwts they have more opportunities to make money, as they have the fall and spring seaso, and lately a winter and summer tour. nonetheless they too are VASTLY underpaid when you consider how much money these tv networks are making, it is so unjust and ridiculous
+Jeny Dee The 3 Russian-trained gals I mentioned (along with Ivetka -- who left last year) -- were such brilliant dancers & talented choreographers -- all attractive blonds -- huge loss, I would think to the show. I've no clue either -- but pay did cross my mind, also!! We already know that some do calendars, other things to earn extra money -- as the SCD season is very short -- inadequate to last them the full year -- and I know that the BBC was going to NOT allow them to do calendar shoots; write biographers; etc. as long as they were on contract with SCD -- big loss of revenue for them. (Ola is booked to do a spread in Playboy apparently -- and both she & Kristina are to appear in CBB House very soon.) Guess we'll see...
+nightowl7777 hmm I didnt feel that he borrowed it because ive seen that gimmick in lots of dances and shows before. but I suppose its possible, I can imagine the pros possibly watching the dances on dwts to see what theyre up to in other countries. no I am completely jn the dark over scd gossip! no way what a bummer!!! VERY suspicious! perhaps they are unhappy with the pay or management?
+Jeny Dee There are a lot more people (audience) on DWTS for sure! And -- the Judges sort of sit almost among them -- whereas there appears to be a different set-up for the UK version -- Judges are more removed & on a raised platform -- I think?? BUT -- when SCD is at Blackpool, there are many people -- and somehow it still is fine to hear what is going on!! (Now that we've been discussing this -- you're REALLY going to notice the noise on the US one next time -- sorry!!!) I also wonder if you, like me, felt that Gio (for their Showdance), may have "borrowed" Derek's idea to blindfold his partner (it was from DWTS last month in Nov -- for their Viennese Waltz)?? But, I liked that Derek's song was about love being blind -- and at the end, he replaced the blindfold on her face & walked away -- very poignant!! I thought Bruno might have said something -- since he saw/judged both!! I read that Len G will be returning to DWTS next year -- as he has done both in prior years. Sad to read today that Ola, Kristina R, and Aliona have all quit SCD. Wonder what the deal is with THAT??
+Jeny Dee Yes -- that's pretty much what I notice, also -- or if Contestants are trying to respond to Hosts/Judges -- I cannot filter out what they're saying from so much background noise. I don't know why they can't somehow make that quieter -- or mute it altogether -- not sure how SCD does it. It always seems I have no trouble hearing the Judges Comments or Claudia upstairs, etc. on SCD. (Just found it ironic that I'm not alone in struggling to hear on DWTS!!)
+Jeny Dee WOW!!! I have found that DWTS-US is ALWAYS SO LOUD (not only at this particular time i.e. winning). It always seems that no matter what is going on -- the volume of the raucous audience prevents hearing the Announcer/Host, or the Judges Comments, or what the Contestants are saying, etc. It appears as if the UK SCD is able to mute or at least quiet the audience so that the viewer can hear what is being said! I enjoy DWTS -- but have always found that it is so loud -- and find myself wishing they were able to mute or lower the volume of the background noise (audience screaming & loud applause, and often random music!) -- as SCD seems to do!! Just wondering if you find the same thing?? It is SO frustrating & annoying.Maybe we need to make a recommendation to them!! LOL!! :)
I think what should happen next year: yes bring them down to the final
three, the one with the bottom amount of votes be eliminated and have the
last two in a decide with the judges, that leaves it to be a popularity
contest. But have the actual judges to have a say in the final. I mean that
is why there there and they do know what they are talking about.
+Togodoll Yes! I feel the judges don't actually get as big of a roll then they should. Yes the have the final decision of who leaves every week. But really thats it. I think allowing them to have the decider would be a good idea for at least one series, just to see how it works out
That is a great idea! The judges got some of the finalists here by winning the dance off. The public aren't proper judges and how they let Jeremy get so far is really quite strange. It will also be fair for the judges to have their say on who should win.
Strictly Come Dancing Special - BBC Children in Need 2014
Brucie's back in the ballroom, and he's got some junior dance champions with him –Strictly amazing goings on over on BBC One at the moment. Join us if you ...
There are alot of young ballroom and latin dancers. Myself being one of them(I am 11) think that this kind of dancing should get noticed more and I also think lots of boys should get into this dancing, just because it is a more elegant side to dance dosent mean they should be bullied or taken the micky out od
Wonderful dancing by both pairs of children. Just don't drag Forsythe out
again please! He ruins in for me. OMG why oh why do they think he adds
anything to Strictly?
+Lilli Unicorns With you completely on that! They would be a wonderful, fun team. I just hope Claudia's daughter recovers soon - it must be a desperate time for her and all her family.
I love these fun group numbers. They're such a breath of fresh air compared
to the overwrought group numbers on DWTS, and I can tell that the Strictly
pros, celebs, and judges really have a lot of fun doing them.
Just a bit of a nitpick, though, and I think it can be chalked up to the
fact that these people really aren't trained in Broadway-style dancing: I
noticed they got out of sync at least four times during the routine. For
that reason alone, as much as I'd like to give the routine a 10, it's only
to be an 8 from me, alas.
