One of my Favorite Motors.

AWESOME 1950 Otis Traction Elevator at the Storey Hall Building on the SMU Campus in Dallas Texas

This was installed in 1950 and is still running great. It does, however, seem like it is OLDER than 1950, but the elevator records state that it was installed in 1950.

It is at a building called Storey Hall. There are people that will drive you in a golf cart to wherever you want to go, or tell you if it is close by. If you don't want to do that, then you can get a map of the campus at the administration building (which might have old elevators too).

You know, I think the walls might be creamy yellow, but I'm not sure. I am going back there in a few weeks to do some more exploring and film a vintage Otis freight elevator :D While I'm at the campus, I will get a retake of this and mention the color of the cab.

Now this is what I call an incredibly nice elevator, and I love that rotating dial indicator, as well as the fixtures, motor, and cab. By the way, what color do you think those walls were?

Indeed, and vanilla white, creamy yellow, peppermint green, ocean-sky blue, and chocolate brown were commonly used elevator cab colors in the 1950's.

The walls in the cab were white, they appear yellow on camera due to the lighting.
