2007 GSXR STVA C28 Error

I recently received the infamous C28 error code on my 2007 GSXR 750. From what I have read on the 06-07 Gsxr it is rare for the STVA to go bad so it could ...

Hey when did this start happening? mine is doing the same exact thing... i replaced the electrical harness because i thought there was a wire shorting out in the harness due to blown stators... after putting the new wire harness on i realized it wasn't the right harness... they sold me an aussie harness : \ but anyways took the aussie harness off and put the new one back on. when i turned on the bike it did the same exact thing as yours is doing... been working on this for 2 months now. have you found any more information or fixed it?? Please help! haha

hmhh ...seems like ure gonna kill ur starter if u keep trying to start it like that...1st off does it tellu the temp???? cause i didnt catch that from the video or does it always just say c-12??? u say it warms up and then starts bugging out--- what temp does it start happening at??? if anything i say check ur antifreeze it seems as if tho ure pretty low...otherwise its wiring ... if its not wiring its gotta be a blown gasket.
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-zUV5EuyOAts/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/JhsP1_ULVOU/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
If it won't start try giving it some throttle while you start it. Also if it stalls when you put in first gear make sure your kickstand is up as this will cause the engine to stop. At least that's the way it is with my Honda. Also make sure your battery is always charged it takes a lot voltage to start it. I wouldn't try to start it for no longer then ten seconds at a time you don't want to burn out your starter.
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-Xwi-2O0Z5Mc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4ltUj3r02hk/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
WOW, thats just what the bike needs, more kill starts like that until the bike smokes, or try spiting on the spark plugs and if that doesnt work try pissing inside the exhaust. i also would try adding some wd40 mixed in with the 91 octane to make it less slugish. affter youve done all that the performance of the bike should be ???? so try not to ride too fast or you'll mess up the bike again. ride safe.

Ended up being the crankshaft pos sensor, and it wasn't from riding hard since I ride pretty conservative. Suzuki replaced it even out of warranty due to it being a common issue. No need to be a dick, and if you are please try a spell checker. The bike isn't going to "smoke" from constant starting, worst case I screw up the starter relay or drain the battery.

same shit happen to me yesterday on the highway, while i was riding the bike just died on me had to an emergency stop and let it cool off. it died when shifting down to first gear too , and then it died on the street after, all power went off. i then let it cool down for 30 min and at the same time it didn't want to start at all.???

Is the fuel pump working? I would prop the tank, put a rag under the feed tube, disconnect it, take a temporary tube and slip it over it and into a container and see if you get fuel pumping out when you turn the key. At least that would rule out the possibility of the pump not operating.

If your fuel & air filter are ok check your plugs & maybe try upping your idle screw a bit , or it could need adjustment on your accelerator & or decelerator cable. Remember spark+fuel+air = go. The rest might just be adjustment especially if u can keep it running using your throttle

Are Suzukis unreliable as some people (not all people) say they are or not? Personally, I don't think they are. Suzuki (unlike a lot of Japanese companies), builds their engines the way the Europeans do; by hand, although in the traditional Japanese way of speed.
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-9JOntjLO0Vo/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/m6OTjh-zlBY/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
I know, I had a trick to force it into dealer mode. I looked up the c12 code before I posted the video but couldn't find out which specific part to buy. Suzuki said it was a known issue and replaced it even though it was out of warranty. HUGE thanks to Suzuki :)

yeah its just funny my r6 has 9000 miles on it and ive never had trouble yeah any new bike can have troubles its just funny them baddass... gixxers have alot more then others sell that peice of shit and buy a yamaha!!!
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-9JOntjLO0Vo/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/m6OTjh-zlBY/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Sorry for the late responde. Yes it ended up being the crank shaft pos sensor. The dealer contacted Suzuki and said it was a common problem, and paid for the repair although it was about a month out of warranty :)
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-RS5OVZhfaoA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/gID7kS9wZbs/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
strange.... i think the problam in the engine system- i put my eyes (i only express an idea) in the fuel injection....he doesnt inject well. just go to garage or to suzuki garage, pay some many and that's it.

If the bike is brand new, it wont start right away. The more u use the bike it turns on better and it runs better. Or it can be dead battery, bad spark plugs or its flooded. Nice bike by the way.

Hi There, have you installed a Bazzaz Z-Fi or similar? That's what my problem turned out to be - I think it was the crank speed sensor from the Bazzaz plugged into the wrong place, so easy fix. But I would just say to double, triple check your wiring so you know it's all 100% plugged correctly before looking elsewhere.

I ended up buying a used complete set of throttle bodies off of eBay and installed them. Problem fixed! The new set of throttle bodies won't open far enough to trip the mechanical latch on the left side of the tb's so I think your right with the stretched hole in the plastic gear.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-harFtcZgRBE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAKE/ozzsbGw8xrM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Kyle Quinnell i ended up doing the exact same thing. I got the new (well, not 'new' but used and working properly) TB a few weeks ago, but its been too cold to install. I'll p[ost up how it goes once i get them on. I think for any 08+ Gixxer, there isnt a fix for a broken STVA (like there was on 07 and back gixxers) :(
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Has anyone changed the secondary tps? I have a power commander as well and I will be pulling it out to see if that is the problem. Anyone else running a power commander and having this issue?
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-harFtcZgRBE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAKE/ozzsbGw8xrM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Kyle Quinnell i have a PCV on mine but i dont have the TPS error. My error was due to the STVA only (*knock on wood). I think there were some ppl on gixxer.com with the same issue as you. Check there, ther may be more info
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Ronald, I had the same issue almost, my secondary blades would close while riding and cause the bike to lurch. So I broke it down same as you. Got c29 code I bought a secondary set of throttle bodies and I'm gonna swap the SVTA and let you know how it goes..If you have any extra info that would be good
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-harFtcZgRBE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAKE/ozzsbGw8xrM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+atlantis2821 thanks for the info. so i had two issues:1) when turning the ignition on, the secondary butterflies would rotate too far, and would get trapped behind the fast idle lever (as in the video)2) another issue (that my video doesnt show) 'if' the bike would start, the secondary butterfly would rotate fully closed then open (as it should on any working gixxer), BUT then instead of remaining open as the bike idles, the secondaries would start irratically rotating slightly forward/closed (like if they were having a seizure, for lack of a better explanation)i took the TB's off, didnt find anything. Took the STVA off and dismantled and didnt find anything, tested the STVA and nothing. So like you, i threw in the towel and bought a used complete TB assembly last week, waiting for it to arrive so i can install and see how that goes.fingers crossed
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Having the same problem. Did you ever figure out what your problem was? Thanks
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-harFtcZgRBE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAKE/ozzsbGw8xrM/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hey Kyle, so i took my TB's off and took off the STVA motor and dismantled it. The ONLY thing i could see was the plastic gear inside of the STVA motor appeared worn. The circuit board in the STVA had no damage or burn marks or fractures to any of the welds. I cleaned up some of the worn parts of the gear (should have been fine) and re-installed, but the problem is still there. So the only thing i can think of is the STVA itself has 'some kind' of malfunction in it.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-KjB7sDfVhpg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABE/VFLIu9at4dU/photo.jpg?sz=64
hello mate, did you manage to fix the problem?? you want to check your STPS adjustment FIRST, before you buy ANY parts or try anything else which will cost you money, have you got a workshop manual for your bike?
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-harFtcZgRBE/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAKE/ozzsbGw8xrM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+LeLoS Pap thanks for the info. BUT the older gixxers (I think everything 06 and back) had a different TPS/STVA motor/circuit board then the newer ones. The STVA on my bike, is a different design than the pre 2006 ones. So the gixxers for the old STVA doesn't really work on mine. Thanks for the info tho!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-KjB7sDfVhpg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABE/VFLIu9at4dU/photo.jpg?sz=64

Well i thought it was fixed, but turns out its not. Still throwing the code. Think that wehn i reinstalled the STVA, the TPS got messed up, and now the STVA & TPS are sending conflicting data to the ECU
