There is a great natural way to get rid of them. I grew up in Hungary and I remember my grandfather would use Nettle tea or nettle juice to get rid of them.He would take a big barrel,go out and pick a lot of stinging nettle in the countryside, and just put them in the barrel. Then he'd fill it up with water, and let it soak for a couple days. Then he put it in a sprayer and sprayed the potato plants with this liquid. And the bugs would fall off or avoid the potato plants all together. This is com

They are very tough. I have eliminated them for a couple of years and they came back. During one of my epic wars with them I figured out to go after the eggs. 1st year about 75% plants infected. 2nd year 25% infected, 3rd year, 10% infected. That year I also put a prion (sp?) on them. Next year, no potato beetles.

Nice video, as you say make life as easy as you can! I am lucky in that I have a stream some 300 feet away from my garden it is also about 50 feet beneath the level of the garden but what I have done last year is to build an hydraulic ram pump, this just uses the gravity of the stream to pump water up to a holding tank without the need for any form of motor, I only get a trickle at that height and distance but it is running 24 hours a day

+Michael Collinson that's cool. i've seen those ram pumps before, pretty neat.

the easy way indeed

+TheNewport2009 ah yes! gardeningat it's best. Let gravity do the work instead of fighting against it.

Soaker Hoses don't cost that much. Invest in some and string them between the rows and run 'cheap' outdoor hose from your outside faucet. when you need to water turn on faucet and have a beer and watch the garden get watered.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-cb7PbNYtXe4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABs/0EYwe87tebU/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Jim Marcum A soaker hose would have been my first choice, I have some too, but it wouldn't be possible here at the community garden where we have to share the water source. I was still able to kick back running it the way I did here, just took more water.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-woCUGMAlA2Y/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAArA/srY1m4n-B58/photo.jpg?sz=64
I would think a good sprinkler or soaker hoses would be more efficient with the amount of water your using anyway. "T" off the hose and run 2 sprinklers maybe for that size garden. My job as a kid was water can and every plant in the back 40 ;) Love the videos.

ah i see
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-cb7PbNYtXe4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABs/0EYwe87tebU/photo.jpg?sz=64
a soaker hose would be most efficient and best for the plants too, but there's a time limit on the hose as it's a community garden. That's why I did it this way, to save time so the other gardeners could have a chance to water.
