I'm getting 47 mpg (US) with lots of highway driving. I got this car used with 28,000 miles on it for only 8,000 dollars. Its a steal and saving me huge amounts of money every month. It gets me and my stuff everywhere I need, reliably, for an extremely cheap price. When you take into account the value aspect its hard to beat. The steering on mine is fine, the ride is good, and its quiet enough. Overall, its a good bargain, The motor is so small and so simple if anything were to ever break I can fix it myself. It doesn't have hydraulic steering or an EGR system (less things to break) and there is lots of room in the engine bay for wrenching. Its a bargain car with bargain car compromises. You wanna party like its 1999? You need to drive to that party in one of these.

+Andrew H Oh, they're making profit on it. It's made in Thailand, and they don't even bother to paint the inside of the petrol filler flap. Under the hood I saw markings with a felt-tip pen, probably telling the assembly workers which screw goes where. And you're right, in Europe the Space Star competes against at least a dozen other small city cars, so there is a lot to choose from, and the Mitsubishi is mediocre at best.

Wow that is very cheap. Wonder if they are making any money on that. I guess its all relative to local incomes and purchasing power/exchange rate, but that is very very cheap. You guys have way more options in the small/very small car categories than we do, so this car might not have any value advantage over its competitors, but over here if you do a lot of driving, its a big fuel/dollar saver, comparatively. They only way to get close to its real world mpg is with a much more expensive hybrid. But yeah, over here the only reason anyone would buy this car is for its dollar savings.

28K US miles on a car expected to last into the low to mid 200,000 mile range is definitely low mileage (They last a long time in S. California climate) . Also, what country specifically can you find this new for 8K USD? In the UK this car starts at £10,998.99 which is currently 16,500 USD. Which for a toaster is a lot of money.

28k miles is anything but low milage. In Europe this thing can cost $7-8k new. 9, if you go for the higher spec version.

Where in Europe can you get a 2014 model anything for less than 8k USD with relatively low mileage? Thought US was lower as well. Over here that's pretty cheap. Anyway my shopping trolley is red, it has a horn, 4.25 foam backed seats and when my wife is with me it hauls around some of the nicest pair of tits you've ever not seen. I prefer to think of my car as a toaster on wheels as opposed to a trolly by the way.
