This whole episode is just one big HOLY CRAP! moments. And the
ending...that was a HOLY SHIT! moment. I was never more freaked out by any
Doctor Who episode before like this one. Thank you Doctor Who. You've added
sleeping to a list of things that we should be afraid of including1)
Shadows2) Children asking "Are you my mommy?" I actually encountered a
child asking "Where are you mommy?" I ran as fast as I could3) Things under
the bed.Thank you Doctor Who for adding another thing to give us nightmares
at night.
So, apparently this episode can hardly be considered canon. So, does this
mean they can bring every monster back, make the TARDIS turn pink and have
the Doctor wear a sonic cowboy hat instead. The last one would be quite
cool, actually!
my favourite episodes of series 8 has to be
1)listen(honestly loved the fact it strays away from baddie of the week and
uses the concept of being afraid instead of having something to be afraid
of )
2)into the dalek(best dalek episode since series 1"dalek)
3)mummy on the orient express(the top 3 are very close and this episode
amazingly good)
4)time heist(not great but really fun)
5)deep breath(really set the tone for this series)
6)kill the moon (good but could have been way better)
7)robots in sherwood(dumb story with good comedy)
8)the caretaker(not a bad episode but i dont want to sit through it again
just to see the cool scenes)
Listen completely fell apart because It tries to make the audience feel stupid by suggesting there was no monster, when we know that there was. It is shown briefly on screen and things happen without explanation that could only be the monster of the episode.
Looks like a promising episode. I do like Capaldi as Twelve but wish the
writing was more consistent. Some of it is really good and some quite
clunky.
+Mikko Kivisto We should start another thread somewhere to talk about what we think may be going on this season (which I happen to think is fascinating), devoid of all the hoopla that seems to be going on with people getting into a snit about any Doctor who isn't Matt or David or cute and cuddly and who will go to great lengths to 'prove' it's crap for that reason.
+Mikko Kivisto I didn't say anything about current direction. I actually like this Doctor and where it's going generally (even though I am a long time Who fan from way back in the bowels of Classic Who), but looking at the stories from a writer's perspective, there are things that don't add up from a technical standpoint.
Bear in mind that others feel differently about it than you do. Its current direction may not appeal to you, and that's fine, but others have said that this series has been more consistent than the past. So, it's really about taste.
+Mikko Kivisto What I'm talking about is not consistent voice but consistent quality, which is more than possible with different writers. Other shows do it just fine and Who has been doing it fairly well until this season.
The only way for that to happen is if one person wrote for the show. That, however, would kill it. I would rather have an uneven series that took chances and included many voices, than a show with a single writer who ran out of ideas over time.
I like her in series 8 because of her relationship with the Doctor but it'd be nice to have a change. I hope her exit isn't anything huge though, or that'll be four (five, sort of) companion deaths in a row!
To those who are complaining this has become 'the Clara Show' I don't
think we are watching the same show. Doctor Who has never been about the
Doctor. It has always been about the companions. Have you ever seen the
classics? The Doctor was never always the 'action' man, since it was always
an older man. It gives us a chance to understand the Doctor through the
companions eyes. If the show focused on the Doctor all the time, it
wouldn't be a mystery. It wouldn't be called Doctor Who, they might as well
call it Doctor Smith.
Don't let 51 years of history get in the way of a fan's self-righteous opinion. In that fan's mind, only that fan is correct and not the producers of the show...
Mummy on the Orient Express was a good first episode for Jamie Mathieson
and this one looks very promisingly freaky. If all goes well and Jamie
continues to produce well crafted stories for Who in the future, then lets
hope Moffat considers him for a head writer.
+Mikko Kivisto Christ almighty there's always that one guy.Well then, in the view of the public/fans who simply watched the episode and didn't read much into its production, this is one was a good first episode for Jamie Mathieson.
It looks like 12 is stuck in the tardis? And Claras trying to sort it out
and save him, idk I understand why people are getting angry, because surely
if its called doctor who, the doctor should be the main character, so he
should save Clara
One thing to keep in mind is that Matt Smith didn't get a great speech until "The Big Bang," so who knows, Capaldi might get his moment in the final two-parter. He hasn't had many long speeches, but he has had some great one-liners and inspired moments so far.
Very good point, I just feel like the new series has mainly centred around Clara, I'd love to see peter have a big speech or something, although I do love the new series
That would get boring pretty fast. I'd rather they stuck with what has (mostly) worked for its 51 year old history: the Doctor guiding his companions to become greater than themselves and save the day.
Into the Dalek: Next Time Trailer - Doctor Who: Series 8 Episode 2 (2014) - BBC One
//www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho Welcome to the most dangerous place in the universe… The Daleks are back and the Doctor embarks on his deadliest mission ...
Right now the Doctor is just another guy until they learn how to write
properly for this iconic character. This boyfriend/ oh no he's too old so
sex up stuff they carry on with is a waste of time. These companions are
lucky they get to travel with the dude, who doesn't stay behind long enough
for their to be any misconceptions of what he is about. Sci -Fi. Start
writing the show that way. A new producer would have been a smarter change
for the show. Is he going to continue to pick up Clara from her house like
he did the ponds? ugh.
Hey guys, I have a question, I am a HUGE Doctor Who fan, and everywhere I
see fans from 10 years old to 60 years old, since it is a show for all
ages, why is it considered a "Children's show"?
It's not a children's show, it's a family show. It's intended to be entertaining and accessible to people of all ages. Not to light or silly so that older people get turned off and not too dark or graphic so that it would be inappropriate for kids.
+The Killer From Hell'Deep Breath' is a lazy gimmick take on 'Don't Blink' if you think about it by Steven Moffat. I do agree more creepy will be a good thing.
+Ionut Maris He's talking about Aliens of London and World War Three. The Slitheen had to compress their bodies to fit into human skins so they used a calcium decay (smells like bad breath, apparently). This was basically an excuse for the Slitheen to be very gassy while in human form. This was overused in the episode, although I did like Eccleston's line "Excuse me. Would you mind not farting while I'm trying to save the world?"
it's a sci-fi drama. some people consider it a children's show because they have to omit swearing, nudity, and excessive gore. it really is for all ages though.
Hi, is there any possibility you could have a go at extracting the vocals
from the last 2 minutes of Heaven Sent - just from the point at which the
Doctor steps onto Gallifrey?
+John Who I have a video where in the description you can find all episodes of Series 9 so far without music. So if you don't mind the hassle, you can download Heaven Sent and find the bit you're looking for. :)
