131I is one of the most common and is particularly dangerous to the thyroid gland because it may lead to thyroid cancer. By saturating the body with a source of stable iodide prior to exposure, inhaled or ingested 131I tends to be excreted, which prevents radioiodine uptake by the thyroid. The protective effect of KI lasts approximately 24 hours. For optimal prophylaxis, KI must be dosed daily until a risk of significant exposure to radioiodine by either inhalation or ingestion no longer exists.

As a Federal 1st Emergency Responder; you are right on to further explain that emergency supplies are for the ones that will be involved are medical personnel, law enforcement & fire fighters - emergency workers, military personnel & other federal personnel that is apart of FEMA (COOP). The rest of emergency resources that is stored for a limited number of civilians but cannot accommodate everyone. The main focus is to resume government functions @ the Federal & State levels & commerce to run.

never heard of it, lol, thats like that Dr on Alex's show the nuke expert and the caller tallking about the 150 times normal radiation. A smoke detecto on your ceiling tests 100 times past normal, 150 is nothing and the expert doctor didn't point that out like he didn't know and like you truther the phamacist dont know potassium iodide like he' hasn't been to university to get the training to be a phamacist. Pharmacists are health professionals who are experts in the use of medicines.

TG, you are amazing! Thanks for this update. And you are so right, it seems the word got out to all pharmacist to play dumb if anyone ask for anytype of iodine. Many are just tecks with no real value except to count pills and work the register. It makes no sense for the government to stack the deck against its citizens. Ontario had a small leak, tritium has a 13 year half life, so do be careful upthere. Ain't bout quantity, one radioactive atom can do big time serious damage.

**** YOU CAN GET POTASSIUM IODIDE IN MULTI-VTIAMINS **** I went to the drug store looking, and they didn't have the tablets. I was one of about 10 in my town he had said that had come in that day, I live in Alberta. He said he started looking through the vitamins to see if they had it, and sure enough there was some in the VALUE DRUG MART Multi Vitamins & Minerals. According to the label each pill has : 150mcg of Iodine(Potassium Iodide). Hope this helps...

That's right. The news, the people who love breathing fear into your lives, suddenly decided to cover up a major risk of monumental radiation exposure. While I commend you for getting information from a nuclear worker, it's just a shame that you ignored loads of international experts and commentary on the ongoing situation. Radiation levels in microsieverts right outside the exclusion zone in Japan haven't exceeded levels found in nature.

They might not realise it but there is no reason why they would continue to obsess over this kind of material, we are responsible for our own realities regardless of how messed up the world is around us. One reason I say "both/and" about Haarp and other theories is that if Haarp really is something that can be used to manipulate events like earthquakes, don't you think that it has to piggy back on other natural forces to do so? And yet the gov wants us to believe that coal plants (spewing mostly water vapor) are so much more dangerous to our environment than nuclear. I don't know if that's the case in Canada, but it's like a witch hunt in the US against coal plants. I miss the good ol' days when people use to protest nuke plants. The "environmentalists" seem to have changed their tune.

@1112223333111 my point exactly. the U.S. has already had a problem years ago. if people are so scared-- stock up on drinking water, food, blankies to keep you warm and tape to seal your home until the fall out is gone. btw none of the experts is saying the radiation that gets over to the americas will be at a dangerous level. but lets ignore that and panic.

Than its less lethal than the weapon grade right? but over 60 years ago when we nuke Japan we were pretty happy over the two drop and we did not went into even an alert state. what makes this little leak such a danger to us now than nuking them back than?

AT A GLANCE: So, 40 years worth of old or spent fuel rods are on the site. That means it's not 1, not 2, not even 6 but the equivelent now of something like a hundred or more nuclear reactors at risk of going up. Absoloutely Crazy! @MissInfidelle 73,000 litres of demineralized water (tritium a radioactive isotope H-3) mysteriously made it's way into Lake Ontario by means of a pump seal leak. What will the half-life be on the radioactive particles IN the fallout? Sure, they might land in the West, but they can be blown over years to the East! Additionally, just one radioactive particle embedded in the bottom of your lungs is all it takes to kill you over years. White blood cells don't fight radiation.

As you can see if you follow this issue w/o using mainstream media sources. @TheUniqueMaterial Because there is not enough untainted food and water nor is there enough potassium iodide to go around, it is survival of the smartest now also there are many new reactors still pushing to come on line if the media advertises the fact that Fukushima is in multipe China syndrome we may all get upset and protest against any new reactors being started up they are slow cooking a lobster and we are that lobster are we smart enough to get outta the pot I guess we wait and see hey.

@Fox250R : Very real. It's massive, hitting the West Coast of North America constantly (for several months now). Huge media blackout. Tokyo is gone. Massive explosions to come which will drench the entire Northern Hemisphere in radiation. Most comes down in rain, so stay out of the rain. (We're above Chernobyl evacuation levels in parts of British Columbia on the west coast, also high in the Cascades and Rockies, with hot particles everywhere (look up Mark Kaltolfen, Fairewinds dot --com).

If the core had hit the water table, that whole area would be razed to the ground from the resulting thermal explosion. And when I say that whole area, I am talking about say, a 200km radius. This almost happened at Chernobyl. Divers were sent in to the highly radioactive water to open valves and release it before the molten corium reached it. If they hadn't sacrificed themselves, Kiev would have been flattened and all of Europe hopelessly contaminated.

Thanks Prof. Busby. Well I think the only temporary way to save children is to leave Japan. The gov cant and wont handle the problem. Unfortunately the global situation will get much worst. If u can't leave the country, my advice is to focus on spiritual development and preparation.
