Well my insurance worked quickly, so no need for that. It got me through for as long as I needed it. And it did rain for a few days. It held up pretty well.

How many times can you open and close it before needing to re-address leak

If you do it right I'm sure it will last. When I got the roof repaired the guy told me I did a good job and I was almost sorry I took it in to get repaired. But, my insurance paid for a new top. It was not a small rip, the thief climbed into the car through the cut he made. If you have a minor rip in the convertible top it will last a long time.
